    The Saturday Ride
The team here at Peloton Sports Inc. have tailored a number of options for a Saturday morning, in order to meet the changing needs of our members. Please find them listed below:

Option 1: Akuna Bay SHORT AND HARD!
    Average Speed: >33-36kmph, Distance: 45km.
We recommend this to anyone wanting to get more out of their cycling. More distance is not always better! A great cardio workout to get better!
We turn right out of the Cyclery onto the Pacific Hwy. Then left in Pymble at Telegraph Road. Left again at Mona Vale Road. Left once more at the lights at Terrey Hills. Right at the roundabout. Clockwise down into the national park with a short interval between Illawong Bay and Akuna Bay before the 3km climb to the West Head turn off and back up McCars Rd through Terry Hills and home for coffee at Bar Stelvio.
Protein Shakes before coffee to get the legs recovering for the Sunday Ride.

Option 2: Akuna Bay West Head LONG AND MODERATE!
    Average Speed: >28-30kmph, Distance: 75km.
Recommended to anyone wanting to get some more kms out of their weekend. More distance is sometimes better! A great base training session!

Option 3: Akuna Bay (with optional Terrey Hills Golf Course Loop) SHORT AND EASY!
    Average Speed: 26-28kmph, Distance: 45+km.
A great start out ride for new club members. Or an easier ride for those with tired leg. It is in this group you can learn bunch riding skills and get to know experienced Peloton Sports Inc. members.
We turn right out of the Cyclery onto the Pacific Hwy. Then left in Pymble at Telegraph Road. Left again at Mona Vale Road. Left once more at the lights at Terrey Hills. Right at the roundabout. Then we sweep down onto McCarrs Creek Road for approx. 6km's with a smooth, gliding descent. Then left at the Akuna Bay turnoff.
After a 2km steady climb you reach the West Head turnoff. Here there is a full regroup. Then we continue on and descend for approx. 3km's into Akuna Bay. Take a breath and delight in the scenery. Then the infamous Akuna Climb. At the National Parks toll booth after the “Sommet” there is another full regroup. From here there is the option to follow the ride master to the Golf Course Loop, or straight back on to Mona Vale Road for the return trip home. Back to Bar Stelvio for coffee and other replenishments and rest.

    For all rides:

    Start Time

Riders briefing at 6.55am for all group, then ride starts at 7.00am sharp at the Turramurra Cyclery car park.

    What to Bring

Bring a spare tube, tyre levers and a CO2 cannister. Also you can bring some food and water, just in case you run out of steam, and that's not pleasant!

Parking
If you are driving, please park in the IGA car park, towards the loading dock.

    Bad Weather

If it's raining make your own call. Most riders don't come but it's not officially cancelled. You do ride at your own risk if weather conditions are adverse. Have a coffee in Bar Stelvio instead!

    Insurance

If you are not a member of Peloton Sports Inc. (or another Cycling Australia affiliated club) and would like to participate in this ride then you will need to join our club. Joining the club can be done at Turramurra Cyclery or online via the Cycling Australia website, please use the following link http://www.cycling.org.au/. The cost will vary depending on your age and your racing ambitions.

Please note: cycling is a dangerous sport and can result in serious injury or even death, if you don’t currently have a Cycling Australia license you are uninsured and you are riding at your OWN RISK. You will be responsible for your own losses and any damage that you might cause.

    And some encouragement…

Here at Peloton Sports we endeavor to be an inclusive group and to keep the pace sustainable for most peloton members. However bunch riding is inherently quick, hence the appeal. If you find yourself unable to keep up, or getting “dropped”, please don’t be disheartened! It has happened to us all!
Keep coming back, keep trying to hold on to a wheel with the goal to improve your fitness and be part of the crew. This is indicative of the pace/standard that has been in the bunch for years. If you are getting popped off the back, look at this as a goal to aspire to. Every week you will probably find yourself inching forward and getting better.
