    Presenting the 2017 tour. 15 Nights, riding fully supported across the Haute Route, from Switzerland to Italy, crossing the Swiss Italian Alps into Italy, then moving from the Alps into the Dolomites and finishing in beautiful town of Trento.

    Starting in Luzern we stay in Chur, St Moritz, Bormio, Merano, Ortisei and Trento.

    We stay in luxury hotels in all our locations making our tour as much about enjoying time off the bike as well as on the bike. Use our hotels amazing facilities to enjoy pampering yourself, to make your holiday an unforgettable luxury bike tour. Experience a food and wine journey from many different regions and 2 countries with seasonal fresh local dishes.

    • Some meals are not included in each destination, which allows you the opportunity to explore regional cuisine on your own. Your  club mates are happy to make recommendations should you so desire.

    ITINERARY

    Day 1: Saturday 27th May "Welcome to Luzern"

    • Pickup: Guest pickups and transfers to Hotel for check in
    • Unpacking the bikes and making sure everything is ready to go
    • Exploring Luzern!!
    • Welcome to Luzern! Cocktail drinks in the Hotel
    • Stay Location: Luzern (Palace Luzern)

    Day 2: Sunday 28th May "Loop the Lake"

    • 2 different rides departing your hotel, loop the lake or turn early for a shorter version and enjoy the views on both rides. Mountains, vineyards and stunning towns line the lake. Smooth roads and slow forgiving drivers make riding a pleasure. Stop for a hot chocolate (or coffee) before finishing the loop and spending the rest of the day exploring the old town of Luzern.
    • Distance: Full Loop 98.5km - Short option 65km
    • Stay Location: Luzern (Hotel Palace Luzern)

    Day 3: Monday 29th May "Check out the view"

    • Climb up your first mountain. (small one) Wind your way up the mountain in the center of Lake Lurzern. Fabulous views are the reward and worth the effort. Spend the rest of the day enjoying Luzern or catch a train into Zurich or take the trip up Mount Pilatus, going up by the cableway from Kriens and down by the cog-railroad. The half-hour ride from Kriens leads to another short cable car ride to the 2,070-meter Pilatus-Kulm. From here, it is a six-to-10-minute climb to the summit of the Esel - the central (but not highest) peak of Pilatus with magnificent views of the Alps. From the Pilatus-Kulm, it is a 30-minute walk to the Tomlishorn, at 2,132 meters, the highest point in this rugged limestone massif. Worth the effort!!

    Day 4: Tuesday 30th May "Time to pedal"

    • Leaving Luzern we head to Chur for our next location. Our longest ride of the tour takes us off Lake Luzern past the Glarus Alps on our right with magnificent views and Lake Wallensee on our left before riding up the valley center to our destination of Chur. The oldest city in Switzerland (Chur) is filled with museums, bars and restaurants giving us a well deserved rest after the tours longest ride.

    Day 5: Wednesday 31st May "Tax free time"

    • We follow the Rhine river along the valley floor before a quick border crossing into the smallest country Liechtenstein and into the city of Vaduz. Coffee stop to soak in this beautiful city before climbing up the lower slopes of Liechtenstein's mountains past the stunning Castle Vaduz for a photo stop, which has amazing valley views in many different directions before finding the Rhine river again to lead us back home to Chur. Once back in Chur soak up the medieval atmosphere with a ale or 2.

    Day 6: Thursday 1st June "Mountain air"

    • With serious mountains around us its time to choose a ride. Moderate or Epic!! Moderate is a solid ride through the mountains. 2 climbs today on forest roads with high peaks to gaze at either side of the road as we ascend to our destination of St Moritz. Epic takes us on a longer route with 1 long high pass before descending into our destination. Once in St Moritz celebrate in one of the most famous ski towns in Europe and last night in Switzerland.
    • Distance: Moderate 80km - Epic 120km

    Day 7: Friday 2nd June "Welcome to Italy"

    • Already starting at the highest town of our tour (St Moritz) we climb a little more over the border into Italy and through one of the highest towns in Italy, Livigno. (a mountain bike mecca) Another small climb out of the town gives us views all the way to the Stelvio Pass. (Italy's highest pass) Another descent followed by another climb before our long descent into Bormio. A brilliant ride (not too hard) with views to never be forgotten. Once at your hotel (one of the best mountain hotels in the world) pamper yourself and enjoy the thermal springs and baths that are part of this amazing hotel.

    Day 8: Saturday 3rd June "Mountain Stage"

    • Wake up in the mountains, have breakfast and make a choice of epic moderate or gentle. Epic takes us down the valley to Mazzo and over the infamous Mortirolo Pass, then down the other side, up the valley to Ponte di Legno and over the Gavia Pass, then down hill back to Bormio. A ride that our tours are famous for. EPIC!! Moderate takes us up to the top of the Stelvio Pass and back with the option of turning down the Umbral Pass to St Maria and onto Prato before climbing the Other side of the Stelvio Pass and descending back down into Bormio. Gentle takes us up a switch back climb to the mountain lake above our hotel for a photo before fast ride back to the hotel.
    • Distance: Epic 110km - Moderate 50 -100 km - Gentle 35km

    Day 9: Sunday 4th June "Stelvio Pass"

    • Today we move to Merano another thermal town and have the option of tackling the Stelvio Pass first up and then a down hill run into Merano. Once over the pass we take the cycle path keeping us off the main road to Merano. Its a scenic run. For those with legs of steel its over the gentle side of the Gavia Pass followed by the Tonale Pass then we get off the beaten track over the mountains and eventually dropping down into Merano. Epic +
    • Distance: 80km - Epic 140km
    • Stay Location: Merano

     

    Day 10: Monday 5th June "Rest Day"

    • Rest Day: Enjoy the day off in one of the many cafes in town. Have a beer or two and enjoy the thermal park. Merano is a great place for a day off as it is low and the sun will be hot.
    • Stay Location: Merano

     

    Day 11: Tuesday 6th June "Ciao alps hello dolomite's"

    • Ride: 2 ride options both departing your hotel in Merano and taking to the bike path to Bolzano before splitting into 2 rides. The easy option takes a gentle climb up to Castlerotto before the final pinch over Passo Pinei and the downhill into your stay location Ortesei. The other option takes you up and over Passo Costalunga then uphill into Canazei before the final climb over Passo Sella and then a long descent into Ortesei.
    • Once at your hotel enjoy the luxury health spa before dinner. Book a massage or have a relaxing drink look out onto the mountains.
    • Distance: Short 67.2km – Long 111.6km
    • Climbs: Passo Pinei, Passo Costalunga, Passo Sella
    • Stay Location: Ortesei

     

    Day 12: Wednesday 7th June "Sella Ronda"

    • Ride: Departing from our Hotel we tackle the backside of the Passo Sella before turning left to cecum navigate the Sella Ronda clockwise. The Sella Ronda is regarded as the pinnacle of all loop rides. Everywhere you look is spectacular and not to be missed. Anyone who has done it before will not be disappointed to do it again and again as it never gets tiring. Stop for a cafe on top of a pass or lunch in Arraba. Take all day or race against the clock back to the hotel.
    • Distance: 73km
    • Climbs: Passo Sella, Passo Gardena, Passo Campolongo, Passo Pordoi, Passo Sella
    • Stay Location: Ortesei

     

    Day 13: Thursday 8th June "Magnificent Dolomite's"

    • Ride: Take your pick. Stay in bed, Have a long breakfast or get on your bike for a coffee ride or test yourself over the Passo Pini to Castlerotto then onto the Passo Niger and Sella from Canazei. Your are in cycling heaven so every ride is fantastic and too many to choose from.
    • Distance: 10km – 90km
    • Climbs: Passo Pinei, Passo Nigra, Passo Costalunga, Passo Sella
    • Stay Location: Ortesei

     

     

    Day 14: Friday 9th June "Coming down the mountain"

    • 2 ride options: Take the easy option downhill off the mountain and hit the cycle path along the river through the town of Bolzano and then onto our last destination, Trento. A scenic ride with the Dolomite's on the left and the Alps on the right. Both ranges heading straight up into the sky. Option 2 takes you back over the Passo Sella and down to Canazei before riding straight down the middle of the Dolomite's (downhill all the way) to Trento. A little longer than option 1 but a fast ride through many mountain villages. with mountains reaching for the sky both sides all the way to the finish.
    • Distance: Short 70km Long 100km
    • Climbs: Passo Sella
    • Stay Location: Trento

     

    Day 15: Saturday 10h June "Recovery time or one more mountain to climb"

    • 2 ride options: A short recovery ride around Lake Caldonazzo just behind the city of Trento. A short stop for coffee in the town of Ischia overlooking the lake before the beautiful descent back into Trento. Or take the harder option and test yourself on Monte Bondone. The infamous 20km climb is stunning and has been the finish of many Giro d'Italia  stages. How better than to finish this amazing cycling journey. Coffee at the top before heading back down to see the sites in Trento. A gala dinner to finish the tour.
    • Distance: Easy Option 40km Harder Option 48km
    • Climbs: Monte Bondone
    • Stay Location: Trento

     

    Day 16: Sunday 11th June Arriverdeci!”

    • Our tour comes to an end and we sadly wish you ARRIVERDECI!
